“When you start to second guess yourself and let the masses dictate your product decisions, you’re done.” from techcrunch
The quote above is about a product recently released by Apple. I think we could take out the word product and it would still hold true: “When you start to second guess yourself and let the masses dictate your decisions, you’re done.”
Living out our design requires us to live out what’s inside of us, not what others dictate.
Just as Apple is getting a lot of backlash from the recent software release, so we, too, may experience the same thing if we choose to live out what’s inside of us.
“Apple completely changed a very popular piece of software — rewriting it from the ground up. People hate change. Revolt. Some changes are made. Everyone calms down and forgets. End of story. It happens time and time again. It’s just more striking when it happens with companies like Apple and Facebook because they’re among the only ones seemingly not afraid to upset their massive user bases.” -from techcrunch
Now, true Apple has an incredible faithful, rather die-hard fan base and we may not have that. But, living out our design requires boldness. Are we willing to step out of our comfortableness and live boldly? Who knows what’s on the other side of being bold?
“But Apple thrives by making bold moves — remember when they killed off their best selling iPod, the mini, to introduce the iPod nano? Revolt! Then everyone forgot and Apple sold more iPods than ever.” -from techcrunch
What is it we need to make a decision on and not let the masses dictate our next move?
