Time is one of those commodities that’s here now, then gone forever. You can’t take back a moment in time. We can however, determine how we are going to spend the next moment.
Outside forces often affect our time. But, even in the midst of that, we can determine how we will spend our time. Here are a few ways I’ve found to get the best return on time.
Spend time in the right places.
Where do you go to ponder life? What places help you stop and refocus? What brings peace to you?
Are you spending time in those places?
Sometimes, it’s just as important to answer the opposite questions. What places drain you? What locations sap your energy? Where do you dread to go? Are you spending very limited time, if any, in those places?
In the midst of living a ‘full-on’ life, we need to spend time in the right places.
Spend time with the right people.
Who do you talk with when you want to ponder life? Who helps you slow down and focus? Who is peaceful to be around? Are you spending time with those people?
Who drains you? Who saps your energy? Who do you dread to be around? Are you spending very limited time, if any, with those people?
Spend time with God.
What does spending time with God look like to you? It looks different for different people. A drive, a bike ride, a book, a journal, a walk. Whatever it is, make time to spend time with Him. A date with yourself and with God. The quietness stills us on the inside.
How will you spend your time today?
