…the reason we set goals at all is because of who we become as we’re reaching them. The “getting” itself is often the start of yet another journey. – Christine Kane
I’m kind of a goal-setter. I have an idea of where I want to go, then I put into play the steps to get there. But, sometimes I never get ‘there’. I end up somewhere else. I have come to realize that’s part of the journey. It’s not so much about getting to the goal, it’s about who we become on the journey to the goal.
Setting goals forces us to examine who we are.
Setting goals compels us to ponder where do we want to go, who do we want to be.
I’ve heard others say, and I’ve considered the same at times “Why bother with goals? They never work out anyway.” But, once I get thru the emotional pain of whatever I’m dealing with at the time, I realize it’s more than just the goal. It’s about who I become in the pursuit of the goal.
If I don’t have goals, I stop growing. I stop becoming. I stop really living.
What’s your goal? Learn to play an instrument. Start a business. Travel. Write a book. Don’t stop pursuing that goal. The journey to get there may be your true calling.

Hey! Good post. So, I’m probably the one of the “why set goals; i never finish them” people you talked to, which is funny since M and I are doing new goals this week. HA! Perfect time for this post-reading. Thanks, Carm. Will keep you in the loop.

Thanks, Teri! Yeah….one of the ‘hazards’ of being friends with Carma…you might show up in a blog post!
Although I do try to keep it rather subtle! That’s great you’re working on goals this week! Yay!
