I never thought of trust as speed until I listened recently to a One Minute video by John Maxwell where he discuses the word Trust.
If you trust someone you get more accomplished. If you trust someone you cover more ground.
If you trust someone you are not having to work through the filter of ‘why are they doing this’, or ‘will they really do what they say’, or ‘what are they trying to manipulate’. You just trust them.
If you trust someone you get more things done…faster. As Maxwell shares, Trust is Speed, taken from a book called the same by Stephen Covey.
Do we trust those around us? Do we trust our employees or employers, our co-workers, our friends?
Work is fun, energizing, and playful when I work with someone I trust. Work is draining, heavy, and work when I’m working with someone I don’t trust.
Think about your relationships. My guess is the ones you enjoy are the ones with trustworthy people. The ones that are draining are the ones where trust is lacking.
To really live in our design, we need to spend more time around those we trust, less time around those we don’t.
What has been your experience with trust?
