For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace. -Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
What time is it in your life? What we focus on today depends on the answer to that question.
Years ago there was a season where I worked fulltime and went to school fulltime. It was a crazy schedule, but I knew it was for a season and the time was right to have that kind of schedule.
Right after that crazy time, I was in a period of ‘soaking’. I was at a ’9 to 5′ job, but in the evenings and weekends I did a lot of reading, studying, group studies, and workshops—much of it about leadership and discovering my passions.
Then, things suddenly changed. I was in a period of time where all that ‘soaking’ was needed. I was in leadership positions and involved in various community groups. It was about doing vs soaking.
A couple of years ago I was in a season of grief, then renewing and restoring. I spent a lot of time with God, and intentional time with a select group of family and friends.
Now I am in a time of building. Building my web design/training business, building this blog, building long-term investments.
What time is it in your life? What are you going to do today because it’s the right time for it?
